Holding the Rook and Bishop Ending

Hold the draw against perfect play

Waking the engine…

The theory

Rook and bishop against rook is drawn when the weaker side keeps its rook active and its king out of the losing corner.

Keep the rook busy. Pinning or checking the bishop and shielding the king denies the attacker coordination for the mate.

Dodge the bishop's corner. Steer your king toward safety, never into the corner matching the enemy bishop, where Philidor's mate lives.

In this drill the opponent probes for a winning setup. Stay active, avoid the corner, and hold.
