Rook Pawns Turn the Draw Into a Win

Black to play and win

Play

The same blocked structure that draws on central files becomes a win with rook pawns. Your rook and the edge pawn give just enough to grind the bishop down.

No signup needed. The opponent never gives up, and every mistake gets explained.

Rook Pawns Turn the Draw Into a Win

Win against perfect defense

Waking the engine…

The theory

Pawn structure decides these endings. With central pawns the bishop draws, but rook pawns on the edge tilt the balance toward the rook side.

The edge hurts the bishop. Near the rim the defender has less space and the bishop struggles to cover both the pawn and the king's shelter.

Slow and technical. The win takes patience: improve the rook, bring the king, tie the bishop down, then open a second front where it cannot follow.

In this drill the defense is perfect and the win is long. Squeeze methodically and the point falls.
