Holding With Bishop and Blocked Pawns

Hold the draw against perfect play

Waking the engine…

The theory

Bishop and pawn against rook and pawn is a draw when the pawns are locked and the bishop patrols the blockade. The exchange advantage finds no purchase.

Guard the blockade. The bishop's diagonal must keep the enemy pawn from advancing. That single duty is the whole defense.

Keep the king close. King and bishop hold the wall together. Let the king be chased away and the structure may fall.

In this drill the rook probes for a crack. Hold the diagonal, keep the king near, and draw.
