Defending Against Split Rook Pawns
Hold the draw against perfect play
Waking the engine…
The theory
Rook pawns are the least dangerous passers because they promote in the corner, where a rook needs the least room to stop them.
Split across the board. Pawns on the a- and h-files cannot support each other, so the attacker must herd them alone.
Active defense. Attack one pawn with the rook and blockade the other with the king, keeping both pieces working rather than passive.
In this drill you defend and prove that two rook pawns on opposite wings often add up to only a draw.
