The theory
Connected passed pawns are among the strongest weapons in the endgame because they protect each other as they roll forward.
The phalanx. Advance the pawns side by side so neither can be won without giving the other a free run.
Rook support. Post your rook to clear the path and to guard your king from harassing checks while the pawns climb.
In this drill you convert the connected passers against flawless defense, forcing the defender to surrender the rook.
