Hold the draw against perfect play
Waking the engine…
The theory
A rook pawn on the seventh with the king in the corner ahead of it is one of the classic drawing traps. The pawn cannot advance because its own king occupies the promotion square's approach.
The self-block. With the king wedged into the corner in front of the pawn, it must move away before the pawn can run. If you deny it a safe exit, nothing progresses.
Escort the enemy king nowhere. Bring your king close and take away the squares the attacking king would use to sidestep. A knight cannot create the tempo needed on its own.
In this drill the attacker will probe with knight moves hoping you loosen the net. Keep your king glued to the corner and the half point holds.
