The theory
Knight and pawn versus knight is usually won, but the rook pawn is the trickiest case because a knight can blockade it from a narrow strip of squares.
Control the queening square. The win runs through the promotion square. Your pieces must cover it while you dislodge the enemy knight from its blockade.
Patience over pushing. Advancing the pawn prematurely invites a sacrifice or a fresh blockade. Improve your king first, then push only under full protection.
In this drill the defender's knight will cling to blockade squares for as long as it can. Squeeze it out step by step and the pawn queens.
