The Distant Passed Pawn Runs
Win against perfect defense
Waking the engine…
The theory
A passed pawn far from the enemy king is a decisive weapon. It either promotes or drags the king away from the rest of the board.
Count the race. Use the rule of the square to confirm the king cannot catch the runner. When it cannot, push at full speed.
Do not dawdle. A single wasted tempo can let the defending king reach the square. Advance the pawn on every move that matters.
In this drill the defender runs perfectly. Push the outside pawn and promote before the king arrives.
