Connected Pawns Tie the King, Your King Wins the Rest

Win against perfect defense

Waking the engine…

The theory

Connected passed pawns are strong not only because they promote, but because they freeze the enemy king in place.

The pin. While the connected pawns threaten to advance, the defending king must stay to stop them and cannot join the rest of the board.

Free your king. With the enemy king tied down, your king harvests the loose pawns and creates a second unstoppable threat.

In this drill the defender plays perfectly. Keep the connected pawns as a leash and win elsewhere.
