The theory

Complex endings often win most easily by steering into a simpler, well-understood position.

Reduce the noise. With pawns on both wings and a locked pair, look for the trade or push that reaches a clean single-pawn win.

Pick the trump pawn. One passed pawn usually decides. Use the others to distract, then convert with the pawn that promotes.
