The theory

Many bishop endings simplify into bishop and pawn versus bishop, a draw when the pawn can be blockaded on the bishop's color.

Know the target. The defender aims for a blockade in front of the pawn, backed by the king.

Keep the color. As long as the pawn is stopped on a square the defending bishop controls, it can never break through.
