Cracking the Rook Pawn Block
Win against perfect defense
Waking the engine…
The theory
This is the winning half of the two-rook-pawns-plus-extra-pawn theme, with the kings central and the fight over key squares live.
Locked pawns, mobile plan. The rook pawns are frozen, so progress comes from the extra pawn and your king. Push the passer and dispute the squares ahead of it.
Winning key squares. Force the defending king back with the threat of promotion or invasion. As it retreats, your king seizes the outpost that decides the game.
In this drill patience wins. Improve your king and pawn one square at a time, and the perfect defender eventually runs out of holding moves.
