About ChessEndings
Why this exists
Most players learn endgames by reading about them, then lose the same positions over the board because they never had to convert one against a defender who refuses to help. ChessEndings flips that: you play every ending out against an opponent that never gives up, sets the hardest traps, and holds every theoretical draw.
How the verdicts are checked
Every one of the 318 positions is replayed against the Syzygy endgame tablebase before release, and its win, draw or loss verdict has to match what the tablebase says. Every animated line in a guide is replayed move by move: an illegal move, or one that throws the theoretical result away, fails the build instead of shipping. That is why the defense you face here is not anyone's opinion.
Tablebase-verified, not hand-waved
Every position in the curriculum is checked against the Syzygy endgame tablebase, so the win/draw/loss verdict is provably correct, not one author's opinion. When you go wrong, the mistake is explained with the concrete reason the position turned. Positions you missed come back to revisit, mirrored and color-swapped, so you keep the idea rather than memorizing the squares.
Independent project
ChessEndings is a small, independent chess project. The free tier covers the entire tier-1 curriculum forever; Pro supports the work and unlocks unlimited drills, the full curriculum, and complete game scans. Start with the endgame guides or jump straight into a playable ending.
