The theory
The weaker side holds queen against rook and pawn when the structure gives the rook enough safe ground.
Two protected squares. Your b5 pawn covers a4 and c4. Whatever the queen attacks, the rook has another protected square to go to, so the attacker can never construct the zugzwang his whole method depends on.
Where the king stands. With a knight pawn on the sixth rank the defending king must stay behind it. Here the pawn has advanced to the fifth, and that is precisely the case where the king may also stand in front of it, as it does on b4.
Never volunteer the split. The queen wins only if she prises the rook away from the squares your pawn covers. Refuse, and the position stays drawn.
